A group of 8th graders sat down with Ms. Flores, our Junior Kindergarten teacher, as she told them a little bit about herself, and her experience teaching at Calvary.
Ms. Flores is going on her ninth year teaching at Calvary. She taught two years as a pre-school teacher, and her other seven years as an elementary school teacher. She always desired to be a teacher, even from a young age, and remembers a couple of her teachers as being inspiration.
Ms. Flores loves teaching and spreading the love of Jesus to her students. She explained, “I love to teach because I think it’s a great way to be creative and make learning fun. Overall, too, sharing the Lord is so cool. I taught at public school before I taught at CCS. I taught four years at Garden Grove Unified School District and there is only so much you can share in public school. It is so cool to be able to integrate my faith into everything here. I think getting a great Christian worldview and an overall understanding about how much He loves them is so important.” Ms. Flores wants the kids to be able to see God as a God that loves them and wants to protect them, not a God that just makes up a bunch of rules. Ms. Flores says, “I’m just trying to impart that to my kids: how much they are loved and adored, and precious to God.”
Ms. Flores thinks that the most special thing about CCS is the staff. “They work here because they love teaching, they love the kids, and they love the Lord,” she says. Describing the impact that CCS has on families, she said, “We have a goal of sharpening minds. Also, just loving the students where they are in life. We try to come alongside families.’’ Ms. Flores is a great example of a teacher who loves her students no matter where they are in life, and who’s always showing her students the love of Jesus through everything she does.
CCS is so blessed to have teachers like Ms. Flores who so greatly enjoy teaching students and pouring into them the love of the Lord every day.
